Diane Mattern got started in metal sculpture through classes at the Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska in the late '90s. Diane had been running her own landscape design business for several years and found that many of the trellises, birdbaths, and other structural gardening elements available did not fit the practical and aesthetic needs of her clients' gardens.
After taking metal sculpture classes for a few years and developing pieces to fit her garden designs, she began participating in art fairs and displaying her work in galleries. Over the years she has slowly moved away from landscape work. Diane now shares studio space with fellow artists and fills her schedule with fairs, gallery exhibits, and auctions.
Diane lives in Omaha NE.
