Jim Swanson

I have always enjoyed designing and creating things. After graduating from college and doing a stint in the Peace Corps, I was a professional educator for thirty-one years. I was always working with people but often wondering if I had accomplished anything that day.

This is when working in the area of arts and crafts became an important part of my life. I could see tangible results from the efforts in my workshop. So, for the past thirty years, I have been involved with creating art. Lately, the art of pewter and nature have become my passion.

In my handmade pewter creations, I use Britannia metal, another name for lead-free pewter. Pewter is actually an alloy made up of tin, antimony, copper, and some silver.

Nature is important to me and consequently has become the emphasis of my designs. All my leaf designs are uniquely mine. I am involved in every step of the process from design, to foundry work, and finally to the finished creation.

Jim lives in Council Bluffs, IA.
